Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina described India as a reliable partner. He emphasized on close cooperation between the two countries. We always remember India’s contribution during the 1971 war, he said. In 1975, when I lost all my family members, the then Indian Prime Minister gave us shelter in India. Hasina said, India and Bangladesh are close neighbours. I always value friendship with our neighboring countries because I think this friendship is for our people. It is our priority to see how to improve trade between the two countries.
Appreciate PM Modi fiercely
Sheikh Hasina heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “During the Russo-Ukraine war, many of our students were trapped in Ukraine. When India took out its students from there, then we also took out our students from there, I thank Prime Minister Modi for this. Further said, I also thank the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the Vaccine Friendship initiative. India provided the vaccine not only to Bangladesh but also to other South Asian countries.

He said, we are located downstream, the water is coming from India. So India should show more generosity. This will benefit both the countries. “Our foreign policy is very clear. Friendship with all, do not have hatred towards anyone. If there is any problem between China and India, then we should not get involved in it. I want development of my country. If there is a problem between the neighboring countries, it can be resolved bilaterally.
Our condition will not be like Sri Lanka
Sheikh Hasina said, our economy is still very strong. We faced the corona pandemic, the Ukraine-Russia war also had its impact, but Bangladesh has been repaying the loan on time. I don’t think we will ever face Sri Lanka-like situation.
