The hill of Mansa Devi temple cracked due to torrential rain on Thursday night. The boulders fell from the mountain and came on the main road of Harki Paidi area. There was no loss of life due to the incident of night. The police closed the shops built just below the hill on Friday as a precautionary measure.
After cracking the hill, the Harki Paidi outpost police got the shops built under the hill on the side of the road closed as a precaution. This area is tourist intensive. Travelers shop and eat in large numbers at the shops.
Throughout the day, the police kept warning the passengers in view of the possibility of falling stones. The Municipal Corporation removed the boulders that fell on the road. Nagar Kotwal Rakendra Kathait said that the passengers are being constantly warned from the point of view of safety. There was no damage of any kind due to the fall of the boulder.
Waterlogging in many areas
It has been raining incessantly in Haridwar since Thursday midnight. Due to the lightning strike, there is a power failure in many areas at night. The rain has caused waterlogging in many areas of the city. On the other hand, the water level of Ganga is 291.70 meters which is normal. But due to the rains in the mountains, the barrage gates have been opened due to silt coming, due to which the water supply in the Ganges canal has been stopped. The water level around Harki Paidi has also reduced.
Yellow alert of heavy rain in three districts
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in the next 24 hours in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital. According to meteorologists, while there is a possibility of heavy rain in these districts, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in some areas. In view of the possibility of heavy rains in these districts, instructions have been issued to the district administration and officials related to disaster management to remain alert. It will be cloudy in many areas of Doon. Light to moderate rain is likely in some areas in the afternoon.
