Jeep India (Jeep India) has increased the prices of the Jeep Compass SUV drastically just before the festive season. The US-based SUV maker has increased the price of its flagship 5-seater SUV across all variants by Rs 90,000. This is the third time since April this year that Jeep India has announced an increase in the prices of the Compass SUV. The last hike was implemented just two months back in July. As per the new price list, the Jeep Compass will be available at a starting price of Rs 19.29 lakh, which goes up to Rs 32.22 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Jeep Compass Sport (Jeep Compass Sport) petrol manual 4X2 variant is the base model of the SUV priced at Rs 19.29 lakh. Before April this year, its price was Rs 17.80 lakh. Since the start of the current financial year, Jeep India has hiked prices thrice in just six months. Altogether, these three hikes have increased the price of the Jeep Compass SUV by Rs 1.50 lakh. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4X4 diesel, which is currently the top-spec variant of the SUV, will now cost Rs 32.22 lakh (ex-showroom).
Last month, Jeep India celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Compass SUV. The carmaker launched the 2022 Compass 5th Anniversary Edition (2022 Compass 5th Anniversary Edition) on the occasion. The Compass was first launched in India in 2017 when Jeep largely offered a 4-wheel drive system in the mid-size SUV segment. The Compass remains the best selling model of Jeep India in India.
The Jeep Compass is offered in India with two engine options. The first is the 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit that comes mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. This engine can generate maximum power of 163hp. Along with this, the option of a 2.0-litre diesel engine is also available. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine can generate a maximum power output of 173hp.
The Jeep Compass SUV competes with the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Taigun in the premium mid-size SUV segment in India.
