Why is this fire temple named Iranshah?
Iranshah means king of Iran. Parsis came to India from Iran. When the people of this religion left Iran, they knew that they would not have kings in any other country. There is also an anecdote about Behram. It is said that when the Parsi people were coming to India from Iran by sea, their ship got stuck in the storm. Then these people prayed to the angel Behram for help. Then the Parsi people had promised him that wherever they would go, they would establish Aatash in the name of Behram.

Where did the Parsis first reach India?
The Parsis came to India from Iran for the first time in 724 AD at Sanjan, located about 45 km from Udwara. Even today a monument depicting Atash has been built in Sanjan.
