There was a big controversy on the first day of Laver Cup tennis tournament. On Friday (23 September), a protester reached a tennis court in London and set his hand on fire. He was opposed to the flying of private planes in Britain. Due to his performance, the ongoing match between Team Europe player Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece and Team World Cup player Diego Schwartzman of Argentina was put on hold for a while.
The security personnel showed speed and took the protester out of the court. After he was out, there was a court inquiry and then the match started again. British media reported that the protester was part of a group demanding a ban on private aircraft in the UK. This group believes that carbon emissions in 2022 are carnage.
Talking about the match, Tsitsipas won this match against Schwartzman 6-2, 6-1. In this way, the lead of Team Europe has become 2-0. Prior to Tsitsipas, Norway’s Kasper Rood defeated Team World’s American player Jack Sock 6-4 5-7 10-7.
