Rajasthan’s Tanishka became the topper
Tanishka from Rajasthan state has secured All India Rank-1 in NEET UG, 2022 exam. However, Vats Ashish Batra of second rank, Hrishikesh Nagabhushan Ganguly of Karnataka who got third rank and Ruchi Pavashe from Karnataka who got 4th rank also got 99.9997733 percentile score. Now the question arises that when all the marks were equal, then why Tanishka has been declared as the topper. Let us understand the reason for this.

Learn about the tie-breaking rule
The tie-breaking rule is followed for the candidates who have secured the same marks in the NEET UG 2022 exam. This tie-breaking rule is applicable in case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in NEET exam. Let us know how this rule is used-:

  • If two or more students get equal marks then first preference will be given according to their Biology (Botany and Zoology) marks.
  • If the marks are still same then the student with higher marks in Chemistry will be given preference.
  • If the marks are still same then the student with higher marks in Physics after Chemistry will be given preference.
  • If the marks are still the same, then the one who gives the least number of wrong answers or the most correct answers in the examination will be given preference.
  • If the marks remain the same, then the one who gives less wrong and more correct answers in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will get preference.
  • Even then, the one who gives less wrong answers and more correct answers in Chemistry will get preference.
  • Even then, the one who gives less wrong and more correct answers in Physics will get preference.
  • Even if the marks remain the same then the student with older age will be given a higher rank.
  • Still the marks remain same then their rank will be declared on the application number (in increasing order).

What will be the next process?
First of all, the Medical Counseling Committee i.e. MCC will conduct counseling for 15 percent seats of All India Quota of Medical Colleges. Counseling will be conducted in total four rounds. These are Round-1, Round-2, Stray Vacancy and Mopup Round. Till now the official schedule of counseling has not been released.
