The 14th international match of the Road Safety World Series was played between the teams of India Legends and England Legends in Dehradun on Thursday. Batting first, India’s team scored 170 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 15 overs. Chasing the target, the team of England Legends could only score 130 runs. Indian Legends captain Sachin Tendulkar was given the man of the match.
England team won the toss and decided to bowl first. India captain Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha added 65 runs for the first wicket. In the sixth over, Naman was caught by Stephen Perry. Naman scored 20 runs in 17 balls. After the dismissal of Naman, Suresh Raina came to support Sachin.
Within no time, Sachin also returned to the pavilion scoring 40 runs in 20 balls. Sachin hit three sixes and three fours during his innings. After Sachin’s dismissal, Suresh Raina and Yusuf Pathan took the innings to 103 in 9.1 overs. Raina scored 12 runs in eight balls with the help of one four and one six, while Yusuf Pathan made 27 runs in 11 balls with one four and three sixes.
After this the pair of Yuvraj Singh and Stuart Binny shared a 28-run partnership to take the score to 136. After Binny’s dismissal, Irfan Pathan, who came into the field, shared an unbeaten 34-run partnership with Yuvraj to reach 170 for the team. Stephen Parry took three wickets for England, while Chris Schofield managed to take one wicket.
Chasing the target, England got the first blow in the fourth over, Dmitry Mascarenhas (12) was bowled by Rajesh Pawar. In the sixth over, Ian Bullock (12) was stumped in an attempt to play Pragyan Ojha’s ball forward. Ricky Clarke (9) was clean bowled by Stuart Binny in the seventh over. Ambrose (16) was bowled by Rajesh Pawar in the 10th over. In the same over, Rajesh Pawar got Phil Mustard (29) out caught by Sachin Tendulkar. In the allotted 15 overs, England could score only 130 runs for the loss of six wickets.
