Terrorist Ashish Masih, arrested nine months ago in the Dinanagar RDX and tiffin bomb seizure case, escaped from Dr. Vidya Sagar Institute of Mental Health on Saturday. He was admitted to this mental hospital in Amritsar on 28 August 2022, 6 days before the Gurdaspur jail due to mental illness. On Saturday morning, he made an excuse to go to the toilet and escaped by dodging the police party.
According to the information, Ashish Masih, a resident of village Got Pokhar under Tibri Cantt of Gurdaspur, was arrested by the Gurdaspur police in connection with the RDX and tiffin bombs recovered from Dinanagar about 9 months ago. In this, the police had registered an FIR against a total of seven people including this accused.
After his arrest in Apollo, he was kept in the Gurdaspur jail. During this time he pretended to be mentally ill in Gurdaspur jail, then the jail administration got him admitted to Dr. Vidya Sagar Institute of Mental Health (Mental Hospital) in Amritsar on August 28 and the terrorist’s guard to keep an eye on him. But three police personnel were deployed.
On Saturday afternoon, he told the police personnel posted on his guard to go to the toilet and escaped after dodging the police. The police of Majitha Road police station has registered a case against the accused terrorist. A total of 8 criminal cases are registered against him in other areas including Gurdaspur and Nawan city, including cases of Explosives Act.
