Traffic was affected in all four directions of India Gate during the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the newly constructed Central Vista at India Gate. In this episode, people faced traffic problems during peak hours. However, during this time, traffic police personnel were seen handling the traffic at various centres.

In view of the route of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, preparations for the route were started from 5 pm onwards. In view of this, police were deployed with barricading everywhere. At the same time, in view of the program of Central Vista, traffic was diverted on the road leading to India Gate from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Traffic affected on these routes

During the program, people struggled with traffic problems on various routes in central Delhi. W Point, Mathura Road, Ashoka Road, Q Point, Prithviraj Road, Akbar Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Winds Place Roundabout, Claridge Hotel, Mansingh Road, MLNP, Janpath, Feroz Shah Road Vehicles kept crawling on Mandi House and Sikandra Road. There was less vehicular movement in the one-way lane on Ashoka Road, while the lane leading from Bangla Sahib towards India Gate kept vehicular movement.

Employees left behind in government offices in central Delhi

In view of the program, employees in various government offices in central Delhi had left on time. Usually, the employees leave from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, but on Thursday, all the employees had left by five o’clock. Due to this the congestion in the central Delhi area was reduced.
