Billionaire Elon Musk on Friday said that Twitter struck a multimillion-dollar deal with a former employee who turned whistleblower amid a legal battle over breaking a $44 million deal with microblogging site Twitter. This was also a major reason why he broke the deal with the microblogging site. Musk’s statement came after the Wall Street Journal reported that Twitter has decided to pay whistleblowers $7 million to settle a dispute.
Elon Musk’s lawyers said in a letter to the social media company, ‘Twitter did not obtain their consent before paying $7.75 million to Peter Jatko (whistleblower) and his lawyers. This violated the merger agreement. It was prohibited for Twitter to do so during the negotiations with Musk.

He also claimed that what the company is telling the regulators about cyber security is misleading. According to Peter, the company ignored efforts to root out fake accounts spreading misinformation.
